St. Chapelle, Paris

St. Chapelle Paris

I was completely awestruck by the majestic beauty of St. Chapelle.  Our visit coincided with the late afternoon sun streaming through the wrap around stained glass.

Construction was started sometime after 1238 and consecrated on April 26, 1248, St. Chapelle is considered among the highest achievements of Gothic architecture.  The structure is 118 feet long, 56 feet wide, and 139 feet tall while the upper chapel has nearly 6,500 square feet of stained glass.
